A NEW LOOK

A new peak body for the irrigation industry in Australia has been formed Irrigation Australia Limited (IAL).

The new organisation has resulted from the merger of the two major irrigation bodies – the Australia National Committee on Irrigation and Drainage (ANCID), representing irrigation water authorities and delivery companies, and the Irrigation Association of Australia, representing both rural and urban irrigation sectors from manufacturers and distributors to end users.

“The new organisation allows us to provide stronger representation on irrigation issues at all levels and better services for our members,” said the chair of IAL, Stephen Mills. “There was overwhelming support from members of both organisations for the merger. They clearly recognised that a new combined force, Irrigation Australia, could be more effective, more efficient and more decisive for our industry.”

Formerly chair of ANCID, Mr Mills leads an interim 10 person board formed from both organisations with Peter Toome chair of IAA taking the deputy chair post. The CEO is Jolyon Burnett from IAA.
